‘SAFE PASS

The FAS Safe Pass Programme is a one-day safety awareness programme aimed at construction site personnel.

 

The aim of the programme is to raise the standard of safety awareness in the construction industry, ensure that all site personnel undergo basic health & safety training, maintain a register of personnel who have received such training and provide all participants with a ‘Safe Pass’ registration card which will indicate that the holder has attended a formal course in health & safety awareness.

Safe Scaffolding- An Essential for Site Safety

The Safe Pass Programme will extend to all construction and local authority workers. All new entrants to the construction industry will have to receive Safe Pass training by 1st January 2001, construction workers on new projects by 1st May 2002 and all construction workers by 1st July 2003.

The training modules included in the programme are:

  2. Health & Safety at Work Legislation
  3. Accident Reporting & Emergency Procedure
  4. Accident Prevention
  5. Health & Hygiene
  6. Manual Handling
  7. Working at Heights
  8. Working with Electricity, Underground and Overhead Services
  9. Use of Hand Held Equipment and Tools
  10. Personal Protective Equipment
  11. Safe Use of Vehicles
  12. Noise and Vibrations
  13. Excavations and Confined Spaces

Certification under the Safe Pass Programme entails successfully completing the 13 modules and a written examination consisting of multiple-choice questions.
